Life Snippets #23

We interrupt your regular scheduled program to bring you The Dog, The Cat, and Baby.

This new computer is so fantastic, I can hardly contain myself.
You want cute puppy photos?
I have cute puppy photos.

Guess what else I have?
A new slipcover for the trashed couch that I've been bitching about for five years.
Example A.

That's one side of one of the seat cushions.
Example B is the other side.

The other cushion is just as bad.
Both sides.
I finally just bit the damn bullet and busted out the sewing machine.
A few weeks ago, I made covers for the seat cushions, and the three back cushions, out of a Home Depot drop cloth I had in my stash.
I ran out, but I finally picked up another one on Black Friday when I was there buying my deal of the year poinsettias.
I drug the sewing machine out again last week and just went at it.
It was a true, fake it till ya make it, project.
I got it all done, except the front "skirt" part.
I need to dig through my fabric stash and see if I have another piece big enough to finish it, without having to buy another whole one.
I didn't take any finished beauty shots, 'cause that's not what this post is about, but you'll be able to catch a glimpse in the dog and cat photos.
A few of the pillow covers are new, too.
The only reason I had the camera out when I was working on it is because of the goofy cat.
I literally had to pick him up and move him about 15 times while I was draping, pinning, sewing, trying on, repeat, repeat, repeat.

The funny thing is, I don't know why it took me so damn long.
Once I got going, it really wasn't that hard.
I didn't do any fancy piping, 'cause that would have taken forever, but I got the body of the couch done in an afternoon before it was time to pick up the kids from school.
Moral of the story:  Just do it.
It ain't fancy, but it's so much better than it was.
And clearly it seems to be a popular chill spot.

This kid.
I feel like her hair is a clear representation of her personality.

This little monster is as sweet as she was the day we hauled her home.

And then there's the old man.
He's at least 13 now, and quite possibly the best cat there ever was.
He's been laying in this exact spot for four days.

And that's it for sharing today.
I'm super stoked to be back in the land of blogging, and look forward to posting more in the days to come.

  1. Your cat is beautiful and your puppy is the cutest dog I've ever seen. And of course, The Baby is just precious. I love her reading books while you snap away. And your sofa project is awesome.

  2. That is so cool you sewed your own covers for the couch. And it looks great! The pup is getting big and your daughter's hair is adorable. Glad you are happy with your computer.
