Several months ago,
a friend of mine asked me if I read
this blog. I didn't, so of course, I headed over to check it out. Her photographs portray a life of happiness and gratitude in every little thing. I'm too angry and bitter to relate (I know, it's shocking), but every time I look at one of her posts, it makes me view things differently, at least for a few hours. I'm officially obsessed with her photography style. The lighting, the angles, the subjects, all of it. The point of my story is, I read one of her posts yesterday, and then proceeded to grab my camera every time I looked at something and really
saw it.
Amid the chaos of three kids, school, chores, yard work, dinners, and remodels, I have a ton of things to be thankful for, and her photography reminds me to pause and appreciate them.
Here's a look at some daily moments in a, metaphorical and literal, different light.
If you look close, past all the stuff that isn't "pretty", there are blessings waiting to be noticed.
So beautiful....you brought tears to my eyes....I will jump over and check out her blog here in a bit. I think that is the wonderful power that lies behind blogging. The opportunity to live not only in a creative space but a space of beauty about what surrounds us and makes life sweet.....you captured it wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your photos... it looks like you have embraced the new season well. You have made these darker days prettier with a different perspective.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a while and I think you are amazing. The meals you make with no real kitchen for so long and balancing the kids and house. There are always going to be people who appear to be "better," but I believe that if you wake up every day and do what you need to do for that day, you are doing fine. You always seem cheery! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read a post of yours, I am blessed in some way.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a happy person...a good wife and mom...and a very good blogging friend. You have always been one of my favorite people....
xoxo
I love your photos. I think you have shared a great lesson in your post. Being able to appreciate the daily beauty/blessings of life is a real gift. I have to agree with your assessment that Alicia's photos are really special. I have also been inspired to try to reflect on things differently. Thanks for the good advice.
ReplyDeleteSusan
I think you touched a lot of people with this post. I love your pictures. Heading over to check out the other blog. :)
ReplyDeleteAngry and Bitter? Well who would have guessed! And look at you being all inspirational and stuff. I most deff agree, we can be so ungrateful sometimes but if we just stopped our complaining for just a minute, we'd realize that we have so much more to be thankful for than to complain about.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm gonna go home and take pics of random shit in my house that I never stopped to appreciate :)
Your awesome! and of course I went and checked out that blog and you are so right, the pics are pretty flippin cool!
