The Front Yard: 2/27/16

I'm back with some front yard happenings.  I  needed new coco liners for all my window boxes and most of my hanging pots this year.  They disintegrate over time from watering, plus the birds and squirrels go after them every spring.  Anyway, it had been several years since I replaced most of them, so I headed to Joann Fabrics to hit up the 50% off sale.  Wellllllll, it would have cost at least $100 bucks to buy all new ones, so I decided to try something different.  I bought 10 yards of burlap with a 50% off coupon and it came out to $20 bucks. Even with all the extra time it took to cut and stuff, I figured for an $80 dollar savings, it was worth a shot.

The wooden pot that I've had sitting on the old Magnolia stump for yeeeaaaars finally gave up the goat.
I pulled the plants out of it and stuck them down in another pot I had.

A Hellebore next to it is attempting to survive Libby.

She runs the fence line like a maniac and to get there, she tears through the beds.
My daffodils, hostas, and lilies are the most recent babies to take a beating.
Not sure how I'm gonna teach her to get, and stay, the hell out of there.
Brat.

Did ya see that Forsythia?
Holy moly.
I prune it twice every year in order to suit the size of the yard, and it doesn't seem to mind much.

This guy.
So yummy.

This is another pot that will have to be retired.
I moved it a few weeks ago and it fell over while it was waiting in limbo.
Broke the whole side off.
So sad.
Shoulda left it where it was.

I got this Hebe last year and it bloomed all winter.
I just deadheaded it and it has got a new bloom again.

More little daffodils.

And last, my hanging porch pots that have had these licorice ferns growing out of the bottom for years.
I stuck a few pansies down in them last week.

That's it for now.

  1. Don't you just love this time of year! I love walking out into my yard to see what made it through the winter. Everything looks so great in your yard. I have an onery dog that loved to eat my roses. There is a chemical free product I bought that smells just like fresh seasoning that I sprinkle around them to keep her away and it really works. I'll try and find the name for you.

  3. The pup is cute but I would be really frustrated with the plant destruction. How do you keep your daphne so beautiful? There are so many half dead ones in the hood that I'm not going to plant one now.
