Shades Of White

When I was out taking pictures of that spectacular white dahlia, I realized I have quite a bit of white in the yard this year. Nothing I ever do out there is really planned, since I'm a "cramscaper", as Grace would say, but I kinda like having the pause of white here and there.  I'd say I'll plan to do it again next year, but I know myself better.  I just buy what jumps in the cart at the nursery.  No plans included.  Although, several of the things are perennial, so if I'm lucky, they'll be back again next year, despite myself.

Here's what's going on in the white department this month.

Chinese Chive flowers.

Alyssum.

Impatiens.

Petunia Vine.

This is the first year I've grown this annual Salvia and I LOVE it.
It's in pots all over the yard.
Definitely getting it again next year.

This silly Nicotiana is a volunteer from who knows how many years ago.

The white Anemone is crazed.
Two of the plants are at least 8 feet tall.

The good ol' standby Begonias.

A little seed Dahlia.

'David' Phlox.

This silly little daisy thing that comes up everywhere.

'Red Fox Star Dust Super Flash' Euphorbia.

And then there's the variegated leaves.
Everyone's familiar with all the Hostas with white and green leaves, but I have several other plants that I love with white variegation on them.

Pineapple Mint.

Geranium.

I can't remember the name of this next one.  :(
Is it a Wandering Jew?

Swedish Ivy.

New to me this year (I'm in love), 'Pesto Perpetuo' Basil.

And last, what would an all white post be without more pictures of  The Dahlia?

And there ya have it.

  6. I love whites in the garden! I have many of yours back home in NY :( and I do miss them. I had giant chives which totally took over one of my beautiful garden beds so I just had to let it go! Your dahlias are stunning!

  7. White is very underrated, isn't it? That Dahlia is a stunner! This must be a really good year for Japanese anemones because the white one I have planted in a horrid place that causes it to never do anything is actually blooming this year. Oh and David phlox. He is a little too happy in my garden. I'm going to be giving away several clumps. :)
