The Kitchen Remodel: Phase 11

Because we really only work on the kitchen during the weekends, and because we went to the lake last weekend, the project pretty much sat exactly the same for two weeks.  Ugh.

But, we crossed two hurdles over the weekend.  The first....the floor is DONE.  Completely done.  Not one little thing left to do to it.  Hurray!   We ended up having to make a run for another box of the hardwood, 'cause we ran out.  You wouldn't think such a small space would use so much flooring!  It sucked having to spend more money, but in the long run, I think I'm gonna kind of love it.

We put plywood where all the cabinets will sit.

The novelty of the water and ice in the fridge door hasn't worn off even a little bit.
You too, can get your kids to drink more water for the low, low price of $1000 dollars.

The second major step we made is, as of last night, I have an oven again.
Wahoooey!
And you can bet I broke that sucker in today.

The very first thing I made in it was Oven Roasted Tomatoes with fresh herbs, both from the garden.
Of course, I had to take pictures of its maiden voyage.

That, my friends, is a beautiful thing.
I also made my usual Marinara, Eggplant Rollatini (recipe to come), Spiced Vanilla Pear-Apple Sauce, Spaghetti, and new recipe Turkey Meatballs.
Uh-huh.
All the day after it was installed.
Can you tell I was excited?

Anywho, aside from the most obvious things we got done, we also sanded down all the previous sheetrock mudding we had done, and then remudded the places that will show.
Once those are completely dry, (it takes a day or two) we can do a finish sand and then prime.
Tonight, we will be assembling the smallest lower cabinet, just to get a feel of how they come together.
One step closer.....

  6. I really like the floor. What color of stain is that? Your stove looks like the one I had at our house we just sold. I find I drink more water with it on the fridge doors! Your kids are adorable!!

  7. You had me literally laughing out loud (at work, of course) with your comment about getting your kids to drink more water for such a low, low price. Love it!

But seriously, I do love how your kitchen is coming along. The flooring is absolutely beautiful.

No one and I repeat no one deserves a new kitchen more than you--the queen of creative cooking! Kudos to the hubster too.
