I Heart You: A Kid Lunch

Haven't seen one of these posts in awhile, have ya?  I've been a total slacker in the Fun Food Friday department.  And have been feeling guilty about it.  So I busted it out today to make myself feel better.  I didn't do The Kid's school lunch, but at least The Girl can have one less reason to "hate" me.  Apparently Grammy is nicer than me.  And can color better.  And draw better.  And makes better dinners.  Yeah, we have a wee bit of an attitude in the house lately.  'Tis life with a girl.

Anywho, I saw this cheese sammie idea in a magazine and since we're closing in on Valentine's Day, I decided to use what we had to replicate it.  For mine, I used a mini bagel, cheddar, mozzarella and ham.  Then baked it until the cheese just started to melt.

I stole the carrot idea off Pinterest.  Then I added some cucumbers.  The little dish is applesauce with a few heart candies sprinkled on top.

Here's today's silly lunch:

It's family movie night and The Girl's week to pick, so I feel a princess movie coming on.
I've still got a ton of recipes to share from this week's dinners, so you may find me poking my head in this weekend.
I don't understand how people can write a week's worth of posts and then dole them out one by one.
I get too excited to share them!
Yummy food should not be left as a draft.  :o)

OH - by the way, my vacuum cleaner died.
That is a serious tragedy in my house.
I vacuum at least once a day.
Usually more.
Yes, it's a bit neurotic, what can I say.
I have three kids, a husband, a cat, and a dog.
They're messy creatures.
So if anyone has one they'd recommend, or one I should run from, I'd love to hear your opinions.
Happy Friday!

Please see my sidebar for the places I link up to every week.

  3. Love the lunch - very sweet. I'm sure that gave you some serious brownie points. Bummer about the vacuum. I vacuum at least once a day too (husband, 2 dogs, 3 cats). Our Sears vacuum was terrible. Broke down and bought a Dyson - it's fabulous for sucking up but not easy to use. though really, I hate any vacuum I have ever had because I hate vacuuming. So,...yeah. Good luck.

  5. If its okay with you I am going to skip giving this to a kid and eat it myself. I appreciate it more. If this was on regular bread he would be yelling can you remove the crust!
