Baby's 2nd Birthday

It's official, the snow has finally caught up with the rest of the country here in the Pacific Northwest.  It's been comin' down since about noon.  Just in time for two events on the calender this weekend.  Perfect.  And the poor Dad left work early, after my nagging to hurry and get home, and he is now broken down on the side of the freeway, waiting for a tow truck.  Good lord.

So anyhoo, figured I'd best be gettin' these pictures on here before her 3rd birthday rolls around.  I mentioned last week that we won't be having her party until this coming weekend - that is if the weather allows - but I had to snap pics to commemorate her actual birthday day.

So without further ado, here's our little two year old:

She loves to read right now.
All day long I hear, "read it."

Grammy stopped by in the afternoon and brought her balloons, which were a huge hit.

Then she opened presents from Mommy and Daddy, and one my aunt had mailed to her, with sister's help, of course.
My mom also brought her some big girl panties.
C'moooon, potty training.

The rest of the day was just spent hangin' at home.

After dinner was the obligatory birthday candle in a cupcake.
She not-so-patiently waited for me to light it.

The Girl, singing Happy Birthday at the top of her lungs.

And last, The Mom doing what she does best.
The Kid insisted on taking my picture.
You can sorta see the highlights I had put in my hair last weekend.
Um, she went a wee bit crazy.
You can't really tell here with it pulled back, but I was full-on blonde on the top layer.
I went back this morning and had that problem remedied.
Gad.
I'm officially a brunette again.
Sorry, honey.

Speaking of wine, I think wine o'clock needs to start an hour early today.
Having your husband stuck on the side of a freeway in a snow storm isn't the most relaxing thing in the world.
I shall toast to him getting home safe and sound - before midnight.
Off to pour that first glass......

Please see my sidebar for the parties I link up to.

  1. Mindy, your liitle girl is a doll. I think I saw the book put me in the zoo. That is one of our favorites!

As of 5:25 tonight, we have five inches of snow. I hope your husband makes it home well before midnight.

  2. Such a sweet bean friend! I just want to squeeze her she is just too cute! How on earth did she get so big already...why do they have to grow so fast! And he was stuck!?!?! Gosh you gotta tell us if he got home safe...nothing worse than being stuck in terrible weather! Love the shot of you with the wine glass by the way! And I need to cover some grays in the hair but am worried about the whole color thing as well! Hope the wine is going down good, that hubby is home safe and that the snow slows down for the big party! Either way I know you will be throwing an awesome bash for this sweet girl! Enjoy every second!!! Nicole xoxo

  6. Oh man, poor hubby! That sounds like a terribly frustrating and frightening way to spend the day. I bet he needed some special lovin' after a day like that. ... I can't believe little Lainy is 2 already. She's so cute and I can tell from the photos that she's a deep thinker. And so sweet how big sis helped with the gifts. Big girl panties, yay! ... About 2 feet of snow here now. I am so tired of winter. Your hair would look great whatever color you chose because you've got such a pretty face for it to surround. Have a great weekend.

  7. Oh my gosh, how is Baby 2??? That doesn't seem possible!! And she looks just like a little Carter. You and the Mr. have marked your babies for reals--no denying them for even a second. And I think your hair looks good. I got red lowlights put in once but instead of what I asked for I looked like I was WAY edgier than I really am--Chris was like I'm sorry but I can't look at you. haha I got that remedied ASAP. I still haven't lived it down from a few friends.
