The End Of March In The Front Yard

This is my fourth spring as a blogger, and every year I forget how many yard pictures I end up with.  I know I've said it a zillion times, but the garden really does change on a daily basis this time of year, making it nearly impossible to keep up on the posts.  I guess I could just just skip a week of taking my camera outside. Hahahahahahahahahah.

This is what was happening in the front yard the week before last:

My beeeeeauuuuuutiful Mt. Fuji Flowering Cherry was in FULL bloom.  I wish I could remember what year we put it in.  I could probably figure it out if I looked at old pictures.  It was basically just a twig when I bought it.  It was the only size I could afford.  We took out a sad, old, ugly, messy magnolia (that I hated), and planted this in its place.  I love it.

And I tend to take a lot of photos of it.
Your scrolling finger has been warned.

It's so dang pretty.

Here are a couple shots of the front from the sidewalk.

This is the time of year I second-guess ripping the climbing rose out.
It's so pretty right now.
Give it a month, it'll be covered in rust and blackspot and I'll hate it again.

I never remember the name of this white stuff.

Back up in the yard, the peony is comin' on.

These are the weights from the old double-hung window in the kitchen.
We pulled them out of the wall when we demoed.
I've got 'em hangin' in the lilac.

I keep trying to get a picture of this lungwort that shows the true color.
It's so blue and I just can't make my camera see that.

And last, this just might be my favorite spring bulb.
Snowflakes (Leucojum).
It's another one that I can't stop photographing.

Love, love, love it.

That's it for now.
I've got a backyard plant post to write.  :o)
I'm also working on a before and after post of the yard.
I've been scanning photos from when I first moved in.
It's quite a bit different now.
Ha!

Shameless plug alert:
Just a little reminder that you can purchase my floral photographs in my Etsy shop.

  4. Mindy, I love all the flowers in bloom! We don't have a single bloom here yet...this has been the longest most miserable winter ever. We finally warmed up to 50 degrees. :0/

  5. Wow, what a pretty flowering cherry! I spent hours outside in the sun yesterday working in the garden--hope to continue all week! I need to get a salad bed in, but the big bags of fertilizers we got last weekend are still down the hill in the car, because hubs came down with a nasty cold and isn't feeling like doing his usual slave labor for me--I may have to gird my loins and haul it up myself :)

  7. Oh my that tree is so beautiful!!!! I love it! Someday I would love to have one. Like you, mine will start out as a twig too :) Do you by chance know the name of that white (ground-cover) plant? I love that too! My flowering ground cover in the front yard is very slow growing, so I think this would be a great addition to my flower bed.
