Here's the recipe:
Holly's Pork Chops
4 pork chops or pork steaks (I use pork loin cut into steaks a lot)
2 Tbsp chopped shallots (I substitute red onion or garlic, or a combo of the two, most of the time)
1/3 C balsamic vinegar
1/4 C packed brown sugar
Salt and pepper
Season the pork with salt and pepper.
Heat about a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook pork until brown on both sides and done through, about 7 minutes total, depending on thickness.
Remove from pan and keep warm.
Add shallot to pan, adding a smidge more olive oil if necessary.
Cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add balsamic and brown sugar.
Boil until thickened slightly, about 2 minutes.
Pour sauce over pork and serve.
We had ours with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and acorn squash, baked with butter and brown sugar.
You're gonna wanna put the sauce all over everything on your plate.
It's really good over mixed greens as well, if you go that route.
Here's dinner on my plate:
Did I mention I love fall food?
ummmm i was just here and this was not here...! I love pork... but I find that it doesn't have the most amount of flavour...that balsamic brown sugar glaze looks like it makes it taste amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe found this farm that raised organic pork and it is the best-tasting pork ever. Wayyyyyy better than the supermarket (of course pricier). This sounds like the perfect recipe to top it off. I love the look of that squash too. Mmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteFall food is so yummy, isn't it? This looks like a tasty recipe and your pictures are making me hungry!
