Ladybug Invitations & Banner

I lied yesterday when I said the royal icing ladybugs were the first thing I had done for The Girl's party.  I made a banner and the invitations as well.  I got the invite idea on Pinterest.  Click here to see the original.  There was no tutorial, so I just went off the picture.

Here's a list of the things I used:

Black, Red and White Paper - I got a 50-pack of each color at Joann's on sale for $1.88 each
Compass - had it
Scissors - had 'em
Glue - had it
Mini Black Brads- $2.99 at Joann's
Printer - had it
Cricut Cutter - had it

For the black body, I used a compass to draw a circle that would fit inside of the envelopes I wanted to use.  Then I hand drew the head onto the circle and cut it out.

For the wings, I used the compass again to draw circles the same size as the body.  I cut them out with scissors and then cut the circles in half.

I used the Cricut Cutter to make the black circles for the wings and glued them on.

I attached the wings to the body with the brads.

I printed the wording, drew around it with the compass again, cut the circle out, and glued it to the body.

Done.

Here's the invitations:

I knew I wanted to make some sort of banner, but I hadn't committed to anything yet.  I was at the Dollar Store and found a package of die-cut paper red balloons.  I figured if I cut the tied part of the balloon off, they would look close enough to a ladybug shape.

Here's what they look like straight outta the package:

Here's a list of everything I used:

Die-cut Paper Balloons - $1
Black Paper - see above
Glue - had it
Sharpie - had it
Exacto-Knife - had it
White Ribbon - had it
Glue - had it
Cricut Cutter - had it
Flower Punch - had it
Hole Punch - had it

After cutting the tips of the paper balloons off, I drew on a head and a line down the back with a Sharpie.  I used my Cricut cut circles for the spots and glued them on.  I cut a slit on either side of the wings for threading the ribbon through.

I cut black flowers with my flower punch and red dots with a regular hole punch out of the leftover balloon shapes.  I glued the red dot to the center of the flowers and glued the flowers to the ribbon in between the ladybugs.

Done.
