Upholstered Numbers

I feel like I've been MIA.

I'm having one of those weeks/days/moments.

It's only the 4th and it feels like the month is flying.  I think my head is just all jumbled with too many things.  I'm finding myself walking in circles, pacing, not accomplishing anything, and instead worrying about all the things I feel like I should be doing.

Like I said, one of those weeks/days/moments.  It's probably those crazy baby hormones.  I'm not crying for no reason yet, so that's good.  Although, there was a moment today, when I couldn't find a hanger to put something away in my closet, that I was on the cusp of a breakdown.  Isn't it funny how you know something is irrational, yet you still feel like you've lost control of the emotion?

Just me?  Alrighty then, moving right along.

My days are all blurred together, so I'm not exactly sure when I worked on these, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was a week or two ago.  When I scored all that free stuff on garage sale day, one of the piles I brought home was a bunch of random wooden cut out letters and numbers.  I just shoved them in a box without really going through them to see what was there.  I decided to paw through it and see if I could spell something or find a number that had personal significance.  I was in luck.

I dug through a pile of stuff I still hadn't put away from working on all the master bedroom projects and pulled out some batting and fabric.  I got out the spray adhesive and some scissors and went to work.

First, I layed out each number on the batting and traced around it.
I left enough on the edges to wrap it around to the back.

Once the batting was cut out, I used spray adhesive to keep it in place.

Then I traced and cut out my fabric.

Once I had everything cut out, I got out the staple gun, got it all set up, put my first staple in, and realized it went straight through to the floor.
Whoopsie.
My staples were too long.
So onto Plan B.
Glue gun.

Okay, so I got both done and needed a hanger.
I remembered a tip I had seen on Pinterest.
A tab off of a drink can.
I hot glued that puppy on and they were good to go.

The Dad walked through the room as I was gluing on the tabs.
He chuckled, gave me the "now what in the world is she doing" look, then asked if I needed him to start saving all of his beer tabs.
Hardy har har.
Sure, make fun of me.  It worked didn't it?

Here they are hanging in the room.

And since I never really posted pictures after hanging anything back up above the bed, here are a few more shots :

No, I still haven't finished painting the board and batten.  Don't judge me.

  3. The numbers look great. Your bedroom looks so good. I'm trying to redo mine but can't get the wall stuff right. I like how you mix things instead of putting up just pictures. Hmmm...I need to try that. I've probably said this before but I LOVE that color on the walls. Do you remember what it is?
