Our cabinets were delivered! They're stacked in the garage, but they're here. So that's pretty exciting. My dishwasher is here too. Ahhhh, the dishwasher.
As I mentioned last week, The Dad took Friday off, so
It feels really strange not being active in the actual demo process. Typically projects around here are done with four hands. But Baby is at the age where she ain't havin' it. So I'm the official distraction, while The Dad works.
Here's where we're at this week.
Friday, the rest of the plaster came off of three of the walls.
Good old fashioned child labor.
All the lath came off the south and west walls, exposing the studs.
There's a ton of nasty, loose insulation in the soffit, so The Dad needs to get in the attic to clean it out before we open it up and rip it out.
That heat duct still needs to be relocated, as well.
The lath on the north wall was up next.
Every good demo needs a bottle of fish sauce on the counter.
And the last thing finished, right before dinner last night, was the plaster on the east wall.
It ain't a party till the floors are covered in plaster chunks.
And that's the kind of mess we're cleaning up every night so it isn't tracked through the house.
The floors, the counters, the stove, the sink.
That stuff goes everywhere.
Good times.
So that's where we're at.
Before I go, here's a look see at the cabinets.
The pictures actually make it look not half bad.
Hahahahahahahaha.
Please see my sidebar for the parties I link up to.
Oh my heck, it is going to take you six months to put that kitchen back together again!! That joke isn't funny anymore... geesh, I don't envy you right now but I know it is going to be worth every moment of chaos when it is finished!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I could puke looking at those cupboards. Holy *$@(. Seriously. I love the looks sans lath,...kind of cottagey. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That's impressive. You guys are organized and though it was time consuming and tedious, I know it will save you from big, fat headaches in the future. I'm so excited for you.
ReplyDeleteWow--major work going on at your place, but how lovely it will be when it's all done! And child labor is looking very helpful--well done :)
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so glad that is you and not me. But can't wait to see it done!
