There Was A Little Turtle: A Kid Lunch

.....his name was Tiny Tim.  Do you know that song?  Today is the last day of swimming lessons for the kids and they sing that song in the pool.  Today's lunch idea came from my Kid Lunch Ideas Pinterest board.  I think the original is a hamburger.  You can see it here.

Have you seen those sandwich thins that are everywhere now?  I LOVE them.  Last time I was at the store, they had minis.  So stinkin' cute.  That's what I used for the shell.  The sammie is cheese and salami.  The feet and head are mini pickles.  Orange slices around the rim.

The kids must have said 20 times how cute he was.  The Girl kept saying, awwwwwww, he's so cute.

Here's lunch on the plate:

In other news, The Rearranger got a wild hair this morning.  Anytime I start thinking about the new things I'd really like to have and can't, I start moving stuff around.  It's a disease.  I've wanted a new couch FOREVER.  It ain't gonna happen.  And knowing that my living room works only ONE way with the furniture that I own, I still have random moments when I think, well maybe I could try it this way.  Yeah, it doesn't work.  It didn't work the last time I tried it "this way" and it didn't work this time either.  So I end up moving everything around just to move it all back again.  I suppose the good part is, all the baseboards behind the furniture get cleaned.  Man were they nasty!

Everything is still torn apart, so this is what my dining room table looked like when lunch was ready:

And this is how my poor children ate:

Here's more of the storm before the calm:

Yeah, I'd better get busy.......

  1. I know the feeling ~ my furniture will go only one way and yet I keep thinking some other way would look good and be different. :-)

Your kids are so cute! They prolly don't know how to eat at some other place...no cute food designs. I love that you do that.

I thought I signed up as a follower the other day, however, I didn't see 'me' so tried again.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Oh, I love Tiny Tim. He is so cute. Funny about your furniture moving sickness, though I suppose not really when you get to the point of moving it back. Must feel good to get to those baseboards though, lol.

  4. That is one adorable sandwich! How cute and creative. Yours is cuter thatn the one it was inspired by. I'm with you about rearranging. We do it at least once a year and it just freshens things up.

  5. Your house is so pretty, Mindy. No wonder you fell in love with it, back when you were single. I'll have to look for the sandwich "minis." I've never seen them but I have seen the round ones and the rectangular ones for hot dogs. I love them too. They're yummy. Your turtle sammy is just too cute! Your kids are lucky to have a mom like you.
