I didn't even realize the Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) was blooming until I was practically on top of it.
The Sweetbox (Sarcococca), however, has been making its way into the house for a couple weeks now.
It still isn't blooming enough to be fragrant outside, but once it gets goin' in the house, it'll 'bout knock ya over.
The plant has gained quite a bit of ground over the last year and needs a serious prune job to scale it back a notch.
The Hellebores are all starting to get buds.
Some are just barely up out of the ground, but others, like these two, will be bloomin' in no time.
These first pics are from the monster plant and it's loaded.
These are on Maddie Girl's plant that my girlfriend gifted me last spring when we lost her.
Can you believe it will be a year next month!?!?
The daffodils are just starting to poke up in The Girl's pot.
Moving out front, the Daphne is ready to explode.
And the reason I headed out in the first place, my little clump of early daffodils, that Libby attempted to demolish today.
I had her out front with me for about three hours. My first garden cleanup of the year.
She's got a LOT to learn about flower bed rules.
Gad, I wanted to throttle her.
I foresee some plant casualties in my summer's future.
And there ya have it.
The very first signs of spring at our house.
Are you freaking kidding me!!!?? January and you have flowers blooming! Gah! Now I really want to move! I have the gardening itch so bad. That Daphne...oh..tell me about it. How big does it get?

ReplyDeleteLove your early daffodils. It will be a couple of more months before mine bloom. Your huge hellebore is pretty cool. I saw some double flowered hellebores at the nursery that I'm still swooning over but they were spendy. Your pup will be a quick learner, I hope.
ReplyDeleteMade me want to cry to see all of this beauty in your garden!! Mine is a pile of ice! I can't believe the daffs are coming up!! And your hellebores are on steroids!! They are amazing! Have a great night!! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteBrilliant color in mid-winter! Daffs are one of my absolute favorites and we can't grow them here. Next house.
ReplyDeleteYou're invited to share your wonderful outdoor post on this week's Maple Hill Hop!
I cannot believe that you have daffodils already! You must live in an area so much further south than my location. We don't get to enjoy those beautiful yellow beauties until late February. It's just total dreary here and I'm loving living through your photos!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos, Mindy! I cannot tell you how jealous I am that you have things blooming in the yard! Enjoy your first signs of Spring!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how your garden has been doing. Glad to see that you are enjoying blooms. The yellow flowers brings lots of "sunshine" to a garden in the Winter. LOVE those daffodils!
