Hawaiian Ham & Swiss Sliders

If you're on Pinterest, you've seen versions of these sliders going around.  The butter topping is nearly identical to the spread on the Salami & Swiss Sandwich Loaf I make, which just so happens to be one of my all-time favorites.  So needless to say, I was excited to try this recipe.

I have issues with lunch meat, as in, it grosses me out, so that's why we had the ham dinner the other night.  I wanted the leftover ham for these.

THEY WERE SO GOOD.  Oh my gosh, they were good.  That being said, let me tell you how I screwed them up.  Apparently I can't follow directions.  So I cut the recipe in half, making only 12 sliders, instead of 24.  I used King's Hawaiian rolls and just piled on the ham and swiss.  Then I made the butter sauce.  Poured it over and was like, huh, wasn't there supposed to be mustard in it?  Um, yes, yes there was.  So I attempted to pour off as much as I could, which was hardly any, 'cause the rolls had already soaked it up.  But I mixed the mustard in with what I could salvage, and ended up spreading it onto the inside of the top of the rolls.  So don't forget the mustard.  THEN, as we were eating them, I was like, I'm an idiot.  The recipe says you don't need to use all of the butter mixture, just enough to coat the tops.  Wellll, I used it all AND realized I hadn't cut that part of the recipe in half.  So they had enough butter sauce for 24 rolls.  Idiot.  BUT, they were delicious.  So maybe you should use the whole amount for 12 as well.  :)

P.S.  I left the onion out for The Dad, but I use it in the Salami & Swiss Sandwich Loaf that I make and it's delicious with it.

Okay, enough rambling, go make them.  They're amazingly delicious.

Here they are comin' together at my house:

Hot out of the oven:

We had pineapple and chips to go with.
Here's dinner on my plate:

I ate three.
And could have eaten five.

  2. So what you're trying to say is that you accidentally made twice the butter sauce and then used it all? Sounds suspicious (but delicious) to me.
