Spring In The Living Room

My computer monitor died.  It's difficult to blog without one.  The Dad brought me home a new one today, hence my presence.

I've been taking lots of pictures in the interim, though, and have lots of things to share.
I had the awesome opportunity to tour Little Prince Nursery over the weekend, and will be sharing photos from that soon, as well as garden updates, the most recent meal plans, and a recipe or two.  Until I can go through them all, I'll share some random shots of spring showing up inside the house.

We had a rough few weeks around these parts, and a girlfriend dropped off the CUTEST stinkin' planter known to man to make me feel better.
It went up on the, already rearranged, mantle so I had to take pictures.
You'll see that I finally took all the old insulators and twinkle lights down.
It was time, but I'm still trying to figure out where in the heck to put all of them.

After walking around the house, day after day, trying to find a home for the new art from my sister, I decided she needed to stay where she was for now.
I just needed to move the other picture, that my brother-in-law's amazing sister did, down and over to accommodate her.
The original tree art is named, Perspective, and I love it.
The new girl, holding flowers, is one of my most loved things in the house right now.
She is so pretty.

Clearly I have a lot of stuff, and I have so many 'favorites', so I decided to gather some of them together on the mantle for a minute.
The pitcher is from my mother-in-law.
Love.
The books (did you know I was obsessed with old books?), insulators, and bird are from my mom.
The cowbell was an anniversary present for The Dad.
The old scoop, that housed my Tillansdia until I killed it, is from my sister.
Candles thrown in 'cause, candles.
The little pottery container with the plant in it is my new favorite thing from my friend.

You're dying over the cuteness of that mini planter, right?

And just for kicks, I took a few pics of the plant life on the coffee table.

(I've been considering painting the front door black for months.  I know, it's a sickness.)

Have I mentioned how much I love spring?

  1. Yay for the new monitor. I have been waiting for your blog posts on the yard and your spring decor. Sorry to hear you have had a rough couple of weeks πŸ˜” hope things are better now for you. Very very cute mantle. I just love Spring. I thought Summer was my favorite season, but I am starting to think I love Spring just as much. All the new babies coming up in my flower beds just makes me so happy. Can't wait to see what is happening in your yard πŸ˜ƒ

  4. The first picture of your mantle, on the left by the window, what is that tall plant, is it a crown of thorns. I have one and don't know what to do with it, it keeps growing really tall, has thorns on the stem. How do you stop it from growing tall? Thanks, love your pictures and your yard.

    1. Hi Kathy. It is a crown of thorn. They do tend to go and go. My grandma had one when I was a kid that was floor to ceiling. The only thing I can suggest is to prune it at the height you want every time it starts to take off to keep it the size you want. Thanks for the nice words!
