The Last Week Of July In The Front Yard

I haven't really shown the porch pots yet this year, so I'll start there.

I found anagallis, which I hadn't seen in years, so I put one in each of the hanging baskets, along with the other things.  I love how blue it is.

The other pots aren't bloomin' that great, but at least they're still green.

The dahlias out front are bloomin' good.
I must have somehow got two different bulbs planted together, 'cause this one has two different flowers.

This one's called Hot Stuff.

My "Tina" rose is blooming again.
(Named after the girl who gave it to me.  I don't know the real name.)

My other crocosmia has started blooming.
The tag said 'Canary'.
I beg to differ.

I got a few new plants.
I know, it's August, but my sister had given me a gift card to a fun little nursery and I just hadn't used it yet.
I didn't have them all in the ground when I was taking pictures, but these are the ones I got planted first.

Knautia, 'Thunder & Lightning'.

The cutest dang fuchsia ya ever did see.
'Variegated Isis'.
The flowers are SO tiny.

And a new hosta called, 'Patriot'.

Outside the fence, the plumbago is blooming.

Back up in the yard, the 'Autumn Joy' sedum is starting to show color.

I always plant a tuberous begonia in the tree pot and this year it's not doin' so great.
It's blooming, but it isn't exploding out of the pot like they have in past years.

This geranium is the sweetest color of pink.

A stately iris that, amazingly, isn't all brown and rotted like the rest of them right now.

And last, the gentian in the ground is blooming.
This plant is so dang ugly, but I don't have the heart to get rid of it, 'cause the flowers are so pretty.
I had moved some to the wagon a couple years ago and it's better in there.
I think I'll move the rest to a pot next spring.

That's it for today.
Backyard pics to follow.

  3. I like your new plants, especially the hosta. I am in love with your dahlias too. They are just the perfect size. I think the heat is treating them well this year.

  4. Gorgeous. I have real difficulties with pots and planters (um, I forget to water). Wish I had your awesome garden. Sigh.
