Life Snippets #24

It's the last of the December photo purge, and the last Life Snippets post of 2015.  Whoa.  These posts started when we were in the middle of our kitchen gut, and were meant to be a reminder to slow down and notice the little things. Sometimes, okay, a lot of the time, I get caught up in the chaos and can't see past the to-dos, the messes, the laundry, etc.  That's when I try to remember to pick up my camera and zoom in on life, which most of the time, is pretty darn good.

I ran to Walgreen's the day after Christmas for some cream cheese, and these cute little Norfolk Pines were on clearance.
I couldn't help myself.
I got one for myself and one for my mom.

I walked into the girls' room one day to discover this.

Clearly she's not even a little bit spoiled.

I'm ready for the Christmas decorations to be put away, but I may leave the white lights, garlands and greens up for awhile.
They're my favorite part.

I never did a post on the other decorations around the house, so I'll throw in some photos here.
Our room.

Our bathroom.

The hallway.

The main bathroom.

The Kid's room.

Daisy's bed.

The girls' room, which is also my temporary plant holding area.

The poor cone head.
She cracked it all the way up the middle, right below her mouth, and I was afraid she'd cut herself on the sharp plastic, so we took it off a few days early.
I think I'm even happier about it than she is.

Have you had, Not Your Father's Root Beer?
Um, delicious.
Mix it with some RumChata and you've got yourself a grown up root beer float.
Yes please.

Sweet kitty.

Loaded potato soup in sourdough bread bowls.
Mmmmmm, so good.

And last, but definitely not least, we have this.
In my last Life Snippets post, I said this:

"This kid.
I feel like her hair is a clear representation of her personality."

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a cutter.

The Girl did it when she was her age, but she just gave herself bangs.
Baby already had bangs.
So she proceeded to cut all the hair off one side of her head, and a giant chunk from the back.

Soooooo, I'm not sure what we'll do to fix it.
She's probably gonna have to get a pixie cut.
The other chunk in the back is really short.

Clearly she's heartbroken over the whole thing.

WHY?!?!

So much for princess hair.
I told her now she's gonna have a prince haircut.
She's over it.
These two just shake their heads and go back to finger painting.

Yes, the best pet is one who "poops out hearts just for you."
Happy New Year from the Northrop clan!

  1. I loved reading this 'little snippets' post. Your decorating is so beautiful. I have a lot of green and cream in my home too. I have one room with green walls, but love the color of paint that you are showing so much better. I hope that it is ok to ask this: what brand and color is it? My family room needs a color facelift!

Also, I wanted to wish you and your loved ones a most happy and blessed 2016!

  2. What a great post to end the year. Beautiful "Snippets" of your beautiful life. First off, the dog in bead gave me the biggest smile. It looks so happy and so " what are you looking at? I belong here!". And the little ones bangs! How great that she doesn't care. Really a lesson for all of us "grown-ups" to care less about appearances and more about seizing the moment. Its a little late, but here's wishing you and your clan a wonderful 2016 filled with health, adventure, and love!
