Remember this drop cloth I showed you the other day?
This is why I bought it:
As lovely as this view of the north side of the house is, I decided something needed to be done about it.
Yes, I could clean it up, but we don't have a whole heck of a lot of storage around here.
(Those are my 'someday' rain barrel drums from my to-do list, by the way.)
So I layed the canvas out on the living room floor, cut it up the middle, plugged in the iron, and went off to get my Stitch Witchery.
Um, 15 minutes later, I came to the conclusion that there was none in the house.
There may or may not have been some cussing.
But then I found this:
I used this glue to make my wedding veil.
It's pretty awesome.
I dug a shower curtain tension rod out of my stash of randomness, layed it across the top of the canvas and made a rod pocket using the glue.
I did the same thing to the other panel, walked it outside and hung it between the arbor posts.
Ahhhh, MUCH better.
LOL - I do that all the time. I know it's here somewhere,...okay, I guess it's not,...what else can I use?
ReplyDeleteLooks great - nice fix to replace your view with billowy curtains instead.
Fabulous idea!!!!!

My Uncommon Slice Of suburbia
(can't sign in)
hmmm. I'm afraid my whole backyard kind of looks like that (but we are down to only one "someday" rain barrel -- we have the other two operational finally. Your fix looks great!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that curtain--love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! It's holding up great so far - even with the rain.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to hide all the tools and everything! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking it up to {nifty thrifty sunday} last week!
xoxo,
Vanessa
I just saw a similar idea on my uncommon slice of suburbia and I think I am going to attempt making outdoor curtains for our pergola this way! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing....great idea..quick, easy, love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteYou did a great job step by step instructions.
DeleteThank you!
Deletethis is the great idea! i've made the same in my house: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6TMjEkXE2vUejJrOWtlZ1BkWnc/view?usp=sharing
ReplyDeleteOut here in Arizona, I made curtains wit a borrowed sewing machine because I doubt any iron-on product will hold for extended 100+° degree days!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI know this is an old post but keeping my fingers crossed. Do you think Stitch Witchery would hold in 106 degree heat. This is our third summer of early & extended triple digit heat. My sewing machine went kaputzzz and the electric for a/c has eaten into any extra monthly cash. I do however have Stitch Witch. I know hot glue will melt although I don’t remember how I know this. 😁 I appreciate any input.
