Garage Sale Treasures

We spent the entire weekend at my sister's house running a garage sale.  They had a big neighborhood sale going on, so we hauled a bunch of stuff over in an attempt to purge and make a little money.  We didn't cleanse ourselves of everything, but we made a pretty good dent.  We came out with about $90 bucks, so it wasn't a complete waste of time.  And amazingly, the weather cooperated.

Since there were about 40 or so houses involved, I headed out to see if there was anything I couldn't live without.

This is my $5 find.  Actually, The Dad spied it and dragged me over.

I have three now, so I guess I can say it's officially a collection.
The grease and filth on this one was so thick, it literally stuck to my hands.  DISGUSTING!  I went after it this morning, but as you can see, it will still need some elbow grease.

I found a few more things, some $.50 frames, a few new clothing items for the kids, a couple $1 pots for outside.
But what's better than super cheap garage store finds?
FREE garage sale finds!

Here are some of my free treasures:

Four silver platters, a glass dome that fits one of the platters perfectly, and a couple other random silver things.

A wooden box.
It has a family name and May 20, 1939 on the bottom, suggesting it was a gift.
I haven't decided its destiny yet.

I find it impossible to pass up frames.
They have a zillion uses and spray paint is their friend.

Several wooden shelves.
Again, I see paint in their future.

Metal shelf brackets.
I'm in love with these.

A ceramic urn that I'll also go after with spray paint.
Haven't decided if I'll use it for a vase or plant it with sedum.

An old metal tray.
Paint and hung on the wall as a magnet board?

A cool wooden bowl.
Entry door catchall?

An old wooden bat.
The woman, in her 50's, said it was her dad's and that he kept it next to the bed to protect her mom.  :o)
I adore it.

And last, but not least, a super cute tablecloth with four matching napkins.

Did I mention they were all free?
Deal of the day.

I'm linking up over at Centsational Girl.
