Taco Pizza

Alright, who was it that told me about Food Gawker?  I can't remember who it was, so you're lucky.  That site is crack.  CRACK!  The first time I checked it out, I was there FOREVER.  Then I made the mistake of subscribing.  So now, every 15 minutes, there are 50 more delicious looking photos in my Google Reader inbox.  I've started marking them as already "read", otherwise I'd be sitting here all day long.  Clicking on the photos.  Being directed to the site of the food god or goddess, and then getting stuck there for 10 minutes before going back for more.  Good lord people, whatever you do, DON'T GO THERE!  It's a black hole!

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, I saw a photo of a taco pizza on Food Gawker and I clicked it.  I was directed to the My Kitchen Addiction site.  And I read about how she made it.  And I "pinned" it on Pinterest.  I then proceeded to make my version of it tonight for dinner.

The Dad is a super fan of taco pizza.  He orders it at one of our pizza haunts.  It's white trash taco pizza.  This is uptown taco pizza.  I'm kidding.  Sort of.

Remember the Machaca Tacos I made the other night?  The recipe makes a ton of meat.  We had taco salad one night with leftovers and then we had this pizza.

Here's what I used:

Boboli for the crust.

I had a jar of homemade salsa verde someone had given us in the fridge.
I smeared that all over the crust.

I shredded some pepperjack and sprinkled it on.

I added the Machaca meat.

Aaaand, you know me and cheese - I also added a little bit of cheddar and some Cotija.

I threw it in the oven at 400 for 15 minute.

I let it cool off a bit, then I added lettuce (from the garden!).

Next was sliced tomato and avocado.

And finally, I covered that baby with cilantro.

I served it with a dollop of sour cream and my favorite green hot sauce.

Here's dinner on my plate:

The kids got boring 'ol pepperoni. Although they did put fresh tomato on theirs as well.

It was good stuff kids.  You should try it out.
